Hesiod and the Cats of Olympus

While I pondered Olympus and beyond
The stories and the meanings and the songs
Hesiod tapped me on the shoulder and said
Bring the cats along

The cat swarmed around me
Like a feast long denied
Remember Artemis their wild fur opined
Remember Athena reflected
In their rainbow spear eyes

Without rest and without release
They crowded and murred at my face
Artemis at dawn and Athena at night
Will keep your council and your warrior mind

Filled with intent and all things beyond
Implored they in all words without sound
As I lit their incense
For their bright and wild diurnal rides
Hesiod and the cats parades and played
Down the road to Olympus and beyond
